Categories
modificaYou are right! Creating categories implies further work. I remember I asked the related permission at Unger that agreed with me and created for us the IsInCat template as its history shows. Happy 2009! CiaoOooooo! Gobbler 16:21, 1 gen 2009 (CET)
- PS - In fact I'm not against categories. This is my personal opinion but I have to check your latest suggestions about. I don't know how Ldb works with categories. It's something obscure for me. Sure I need your enlightenment about.
- Hi Gobbler, sorry for taking so long to answer. The Location Database allows all articles to be categorised. In the end, it is very similar. By creating a database entry for a specific city, you relate it to other articles. You are also able to view articles that are located within a place (subcategories). Let us look at an example and choose Barcellona for that. The category Barcellona shows a number of pictures. These pictures are also shown on the relevant :shared site, so there is no extra information provided here. Furthermore you can see all articles that are relevant to Barcellona, the different parts of the city. Now let us check the Location Database article of Barcellona by clicking "Location DB" in the left sidebar. We find all the information concerning other langugages and shared there and all the geographical information we need, this is useful. On top of the page you can see the (what I call it) location navigation bar. Click on the three little points right of Barcellona... and you will get a list of all subarticles. It is exactly the same information! So what are the advantages of the location database? First of all it is easier to manage, especiall when taking all language versions into account. Secondly, all the information is there, collected at one point. There simply is no need for the old categories. I hope I could help you a little. :-) --Felix 23:29, 14 gen 2009 (CET)
